There were joint winners of the Butler’s Bar Fethard Sports Achievement Award for September.
Apprentice jockey Ben Coen – a prolific winner in September steering home nine winners; and Fethard Ladies Intermediate Gaelic Football Team who were first time county intermediate title winners and represented Tipperary in the Munster Intermediate semi-final but were beaten by a strong Aghada team from Cork.

This month’s awards were presented by Liam Downey representing sponsors, J & C Kenny, Wine Distributors, Co. Galway.
The winner of the ‘Mentor of the Month Award’ was Pat O’Donnell, Fethard Rugby Club. Pat played with rugby with Rockwell; played hurling and football with Fethard GAA and has coached young players from aged 10 to 18 for the past seven years. He is currently coaching the Under-18 ladies’rugby team and has five players included on the current Munster panel, and the same amount last year, with one also progressing to play internationally. Pat is also current chairman of the East Munster League and president of Fethard Rugby Club.
The awards were presented at a special function on Friday night, October 5, at Butlers Sports Bar.
