Tipperary has bid farewell to a cherished member of the Presentation Convent community, Sister Colombiere Costello, born in Kilvilcorris, Drom, Templemore.

Sr Colombiere, who passed away peacefully on February 20, 2024, at Gowran Abbey Nursing Home, Co Kilkenny, dedicated her life to serving others and left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew her.

Predeceased by her parents John and Bridget, sisters Bridie, Nora, Mary, Tessie (Sr. Clement) and Una (Sr. Rosarii) and her brother Tom, Sr Colombiere is deeply missed by her nieces and nephews, grand nephews, grand nieces, the Presentation community, extended family, and a wide circle of friends.

"A pleasure to have known you," read one heartfelt condolence, as many from across the country who held her in high regard paid tribute and reflected on Sr Colombiere's impact on those around her.

One touching tribute reads: "Sad to hear the news of Sr Colombiere’s passing. May she now rest in peace with her heavenly family.

"[She] was a very good friend to our sister-in-law Anne Byrne from Clondalkin, and they had great chats here in Kilkenny when Anne would be down with us. RIP to all of them now. Sympathy to her Community and to her family."

Sr Colombiere's contributions extended beyond her religious community, making a positive impact on the wider community through her kindness and compassion.

Another heartfelt message shared: "Sincere condolences to Sr Colombiere's family at this sad time. A lovely lady. She always enjoyed The Side by Side club in St John's Parish that my late mother also attended.

"The little day trips and bingo, [she was] always so kind and helpful. May you rest in heavenly peace Sr Colombiere."

Having reposed at the Convent Chapel from 3pm this Thursday, Funeral Mass in her honor will be held this Friday at 11:30am in St Mary's Cathedral, Kilkenny followed by interment in St Kieran's Cemetery.
