Templemore St. Patrick's Day Parade

Thanks to all who supported our Table Quiz on Saturday night last – those who gave us spot prizes and sponsored tables, also to Murphy’s pub and staff, and last but not least Myles and Helen the Quiz masters. With only a few days left for the big event, all is going according to plan and we’re hoping now that the weather will be kind on the day.

Please remember that the Blessing of the Shamrock will be held in Templemore Arms Hotel on Friday night 16th at 8pm. This occasion is open to everyone to attend and you are invited to join in for some lovely music in the front bar afterwards.

The Parade on Saturday will start at 12.30 sharp as many people taking part in the parade will be travelling on to further parades in nearby towns. It will follow the usual route of down Richmond, through Patrick Street, on to Main Street and past the Reviewing Stand at the Town Hall.

Play Group and Toddlers Group only to meet at Templemore College- Everybody else should gather at the starting point on the Thurles Road. We would ask that all children be kept safe and stay with their teacher / parents.

The theme for this year’s parade is “Irish Tradition and Culture” in keeping with the fact that Fleadh Cheoil Thiobrad Árann 2018 will be held in Templemore in May of this year.

There is €2000 to be shared in Prizemoney on the day – so ‘If you’re not in, you can’t win’. The committee works extremely long hours to organise the parade each year and would be delighted to get the help of volunteers on the morning of the 17th around 9.30am to help get the square ready and also to clear up after the parade.

If you have a query, contact any of the following committee members: Myles McMorrow, Mary O’Shea, Paul Walsh, Michael O’Brien or Bridget Jones. Please note there is also a prize for the Best Dressed Window. We would ask the public to please keep safe on the day of the parade and please work with the stewards on duty.
