Majella O'Donnell was one of the guests on Saturday night's Angela Scanlon's Ask Me Anything - and when the topic of tattoos pops up she revealed: "I have one on my bum!"
On Saturday, Angela Scanlon was back on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player with the first episode in a new run of her cheeky chat show.
As regular viewers will know, it’s the show which sees Angela gets personal with the biggest stars of stand-up, TV and entertainment and it's back for a brand-new season from Saturday April 15 at 9.30pm.
Majella O'Donnell was included in the first line-up and Angela asks her about Daniel's devoted fanbase.
"I'd imagine the fans are a particular flavour?" she asks.
"They are a particular flavour," Majella confirms, recalling how some of them had a negative reaction to Majella becoming the love of Daniel's life. "The majority of them really took me on board," she explains.
"There were some of them - maybe some of them in their 80s - who thought thy had a chance. Because when we got married they stopped coming to see him. What was all that about?"
Majella also told Angela about singing hubby Daniel’s romantic gestures. As he spends so much time touring, he likes to leave something behind each time he goes on the road.
"Every time he goes away," she says, "I know when I go to bed at night, when I go to pull the covers back, there’s going to be a note or €50, with 'Love you, have lunch on me’. It’s lovely just a little thing like that."
But Majella really got things going on the show when the topic moves to tattoos. Once considered a sign of someone who should be avoided, getting a tattoo is nowadays regarded as a mainstream activity.
As she told Angela, Majella O'Donnell is no strange to the process. "I have one here," she says, pointing to her wrist. "And I have one on my bum! Nobody sees it, nobody, including myself, except for Daniel!
"That was a memory I made with my daughter in Byron Bay in Australia," she adds. "My daughter loves tattoos, she considers them art.
"For me," she explains, again pointing to her wrist, "that’s somebody that passed and that has a significance for me. The one on my bum, it just has three initials, D S M - Daniel. Sadism. Masochism. No! Daniel, Siobhán and Michael!"
