Campaign group to host public meeting for much-needed bypass project

Thurles town

The Bypass For Thurles campaign group was set up earlier this year by a group of residents from Thurles and surrounding areas.

The aim of this group is to create awareness among the public, around the current status of the project, to build public support around a campaign to progress the project and to put pressure on decision-makers who can make it happen.

There will be a meeting in the Davin Room in Hayes Hotel on Thursday, October 24 at 8pm.

This meeting will have two items on the agenda.

The first will be to encourage people to engage in the public submissions process.

There will be a number of guest speakers on the night who will to discuss the importance and effectiveness of public submissions in the success of such campaigns.

The second item on the agenda will be a brainstorming section on the next stages of the campaign.
Dan Harty, founding member of the Bypass for Thurles campaign group commented:

“This group is open to everyone to get involved.

“ I would encourage local public representatives, business owners, community groups and members of the public who are interested in getting involved to attend this meeting, to contribute and to help shape this campaign.”

“Recent commentary in the Tipperary Star correctly highlighted the Moyross #BuildOurRoad campaign group's successes. There is no reason why these successes can not be emulated in Thurles.”

Mr Harty concluded:

“Come along on Thursday, October 24 to keep informed and to have your voice heard. You can follow the campaign on Facebook on the Bypass For Thurles page.”
