Thurles Musical Society turned back the years with two nostalgia-fuelled performances at the Premier Hall last weekend
Since their inception in 1950, Thurles Musical Society have commanded the stage, delighted audiences, and collected standing ovations with relative ease.
Last weekend proved no different as the society treated Thurles town to a night of thrills and nostalgia with their celebratory cabaret; 75 Years Down Memory Lane.
With a repertoire spanning decades, TMS turned back the years with performances from memorable shows such as Chess, Ragtime, Brigadoon, and The Pajama Game.

The atmosphere at the Premier Hall was electric for what felt like a much deserved two-night victory lap for the popular society.
Cabaret Director Nina Scott, Choreographer Siobhán King, Musical Director Mary Rose McNally, and MC Mary Butler led a cast of dozens in what was truly a weekend to remember.
75 years Down Memory Lane served as the perfect appetiser for what promises to be one of the busiest and most exciting years for the society in recent memory as they celebrate 75 years in the business.
TMS Chairman Noel Dundon told the Tipperary Star: “The concert proved an outstanding success for us and the perfect way to kick start our 75th anniversary celebrations.
“We were thrilled to have been supported so well by the audiences, and that has been a hallmark of our existence. Local audiences, and indeed those coming from much further afield, have been most generous down through the years with their support of us, and without that support we simply could not continue to stage musical theatre in Thurles.
“So, while we are celebrating and remembering the many people who contributed to Thurles Musical Society since those first days in the early 1950s, we are also remembering and thanking all those who supported us, sponsored us, came to our shows and donated patronage to us down through the last seven and a half decades.
“We look forward to more of the same as the next chapter of our Society unfolds.”
The concert served as the perfect warm-up for TMS, as they prepare to commence rehearsals for their 2026 show, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, which promises to be a spectacular production.
Stay tuned to their social media pages for upcoming details surrounding the show, and associated fundraising and social events.
