The Presentation’s production of Beauty and the Beast ran for three nights and one matinee show

The Presentation Secondary School in Thurles has built a well-earned reputation when it comes to staging their annual school musical, and this Autumn’s production of Beauty and the Beast once again showcased the talent in their ranks.

The atmosphere at the Premier Hall in Thurles was electric for the three nightly performances as well as the Saturday matinee, as audiences marvelled at what was a superb production of a timeless Disney classic.

Set in a quiet village and a mysterious enchanted castle, Beauty and the Beast follows the journey of Belle, a bright and brave young woman who dreams of more than the life she knows, and the Beast, a once-prince trapped in a spell because of his pride.

Along the way, we meet a charming cast of enchanted characters, each with their own story to tell. It is a timeless story of transformation, compassion, and the magic of seeing people for who they truly are.

From Belle (Elle Mason) and Beast (Caoimhe Burke) to Lefou (SaraJayne Ormonde) and Gaston (Ruth Moriarty), each principle role shone on the stage with acting chops and vocal abilities in abundance.

Babette (Catherine Tunstall), Lumière (Molly Power), Chip (Aisling Dunphy), Mrs Potts (Martha Cummins), Cogsworth (Eve Ryan Dundon) as well as all the Silly Girls and Villagers filled the stage with incredible presence and transported audiences to 18th century France with minimal fuss.

One of the most notable aspects of the show was the technical quality; from the stunning costumes, to the set design, to the lighting, the Presentation’s production looked on par with professional theatre groups up and down the country.

“Bringing this story to life has been a labor of love,” she said.

“Our students have worked incredibly hard on stage, behind the scenes, and in every corner of the production to share this magical world with you. I am deeply proud of their talent, teamwork, and dedication.

“I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our production team, teachers, and volunteers who have worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure every detail is just right. Their guidance and passion have helped our students reach new heights of creativity and confidence.

“To our performers, crew, and musicians, you have embraced this challenge with enthusiasm and grace. Watching you come together as a team to tell this beautiful story has been inspiring. To our many sponsors, thank you for your support in helping to bring this dream production to life.

“To our parents, guardians and audience, thank you for being here to support our students.”
