A bone-chilling temperature has been recorded at a local weather station, becoming the known epicenter of Ireland's cold spell overnight.
According to Carlow Weather, the Abbeyfeale weather station, situated on the Limerick/Kerry border, registered a -6.0°C this Wednesday morning, making it the coldest weather station in the nation.
Residents of Abbeyfeale and the surrounding areas woke up to frosty landscapes and icy conditions as temperatures plummeted.
