Coldest spot in Ireland revealed as weather station records -6°C overnight

A bone-chilling temperature has been recorded at a local weather station, becoming the known epicenter of Ireland's cold spell overnight.

According to Carlow Weather, the Abbeyfeale weather station, situated on the Limerick/Kerry border, registered a -6.0°C this Wednesday morning, making it the coldest weather station in the nation.

Residents of Abbeyfeale and the surrounding areas woke up to frosty landscapes and icy conditions as temperatures plummeted.

Carlow, meanwhile, experienced some early morning fog, reducing visibility on the streets.

Reports are also streaming in from various parts of Mayo and Donegal about unexpected snowfall.

Locals have taken to social media to share images of snow-covered landscapes, and the excitement of waking up to a winter wonderland.
