Motorists and commuters are being urged to exercise caution due to 'treacherous' road conditions in places

With weather warnings in place for every county in Ireland, including Tipperary, Met Éireann is urging caution this Thursday morning with reports of heavy snowfall in places.

A status orange snow-ice warning remains in place for four counties - Tipperary, Limerick, Galway and Clare - until midday while Cork and Waterford remain under a status orange snow-rain warning.

Met Éireann, which updated its warnings on Wednesday night, says a status yellow snow-ice warning for nineteen counties, including Tipperary, also remains in place until midday as does a status yellow low temperature/Ice warning for the entire country.

Motorists and commuters are being urged to exercise caution as some local roads and footpaths may not yet have been treated by local authority crews.

In its latest forecast, Met Éireann says it will be "very cold and treacherous" at first this Thursday with lying snow across parts of the midlands, west and southwest with frost and ice in places too.

"Wintry outbreaks of snow, sleet, rain will clear most areas by mid-morning, and southern counties by midday," it states.
