It was a long weekend for many in Tipperary, who will have had to resort to candlelight, takeaways and fireplace warmth as they waited for their power to return after Storm Éowyn's disruptions.

There are reportedly still thousands without power throughout the county, with a large portion of that figure coming from the north of the county, particularly in the areas between Nenagh, Birr and Portumna.

Some customers in the Portroe and Crossogue areas are due to get their power back today according to ESB but the majority of those that are still effected by outages have an estimated restore time of Wednesday night.

Further bad weather over the weekend is thought to have possibly further damaged trees that had been hit hard by Storm Éowyn, so road users are advised to remain vigilant while out driving.

Any fallen trees should be reported to Tipperary County Council on 0818 06 5001.
