The first prize in the raffle is this Audi A4 convertible car
Clonmel Veteran Vintage and Classic Club are celebrating their 14th year in existence and this Sunday, May 5, will hold their 12th annual Static Classic Car Show in Powerstown Park, Clonmel.
It is a weekend of motorised heritage when all the treasured vehicles are dusted down, polished to within an inch of their life and taken for a drive on a scenic route, with participants from the four provinces.
The weekend starts with an assembly in Powerstown Park on Saturday morning, May 4, when everyone will meet, greet and share light refreshments with friends and supporters. At 11.30am they will depart for a lovely gentle drive over the Comeragh Mountains by way of Glencomeragh to Lemybrien, where participants will stop for a midday snack.
Once fed and watered they will depart for the fair seaside shores of Bunmahon onwards on the scenic route towards Tramore and at Annestown will swing left to Dunhill and Kilmeaden.
The drive will then travel to Portlaw and around Curraghmore Estate to Clonea Power. The final leg is through Rathgormack and back to Clonmel for a lovely buffet meal, which will await in the restaurant in Powerstown Park.
Sunday will be a hectic day for the club and it’s the main fundraising event. This year it will support Clonmel Boxing Club. The starting time for the public display is at 12 noon in the main car park field just off the N24. Cars from the 1900s comprising veteran, vintage and classic cars and machinery will be on display.
To date the Clonmel Veteran Vintage and Classic Club has donated €191,000 to deserving causes. Club members are deeply grateful to their sponsors, supporters and participants.
This year the raffle prizes are a beautiful Audi A4 convertible car for first prize; bed and breakfast for two at the Talbot Hotel as the second prize and €100 cash for third prize.
There will be entertainment of various types as well as food stalls, auto jumble stalls, bric a brac stalls, tea and sandwiches in what will be an enjoyable day for all the family.
