Galway-based folk-Americana trio The Raines will make their debut appearance at Clonmel World Music, in an intimate performance at Moynihan’s Bar on Friday, August 29 at 8pm.

They will bring their unique sound, where they weave in and out of vocal harmony, interlaced with rich and rhythmic strings, all underpinned by their emotive and soul-searching lyrics.

Since their last live show in Clonmel, the trio—Ruth Dillon (guitar and vocals), Yvonne Tiernan (vocals and ukulele) and Juliana Erkkonen (fiddle and vocals) — released their acclaimed debut album, Reverie, which was playlisted on RTE Radio 1 for a number of weeks. The album impressively boasts five singles that reached number one in the iTunes Irish singer-songwriter charts, underscoring the resonance of their songwriting and harmonies.

This concert in Moynihans is deeply meaningful for the band as Ruth Dillon, who is originally from Clonmel, returns home to celebrate the success of The Raines and their album.

Fresh from recently performing as special guests to Hothouse Flowers, Mick Flannery and White Horse Guitar Club, the band will be joined on stage by Tom Portman on dobro, whose warm slide guitar textures are featured on Reverie; and also on double bass by Clonmel musician Stephen McCarthy, who has acquired his own following as a member of Crow Black Chicken and the Benedictine Quartet, who frequently play in Phil Carrolls in the centre of the town.

Adding another exciting local flavour, Des Dillon, Ruth’s brother and acclaimed Clonmel artist and puppeteer, will make a special guest appearance, bringing his unique artistry into the mix.

It promises to be a special night of entertainment.
