Two Tipperary South TDs have met with the Minister for Justice to speak about the recent news regarding planning granted to Dundrum House Hotel.

Yesterday evening at Leinster House, Deputies Mattie McGrath and Michael Murphy met with Minister for Justice, Jim O’Callaghan, to address pressing concerns surrounding the IPAS accommodation contract for Dundrum House Hotel.

The meeting follows recent revelations regarding the validity of the Section 5 declaration related to the site.

Tipperary County Council has acknowledged that the original Section 5 declaration, issued on 10 January 2025, which classified the change of use for Dundrum House as “exempted development,” was based on flawed environmental assessments and incomplete planning data.

This declaration was the basis upon which the Department of Integration entered into a contract with UTMASA LTD to provide IPAS accommodation at Dundrum House Hotel.

Deputies McGrath and Murphy raised serious concerns about the legitimacy of the contract, highlighting multiple instances of non-compliance with planning regulations at the Dundrum House site.

Given these issues, they formally requested that Minister O’Callaghan suspend the contract immediately.

Minister O’Callaghan acknowledged the gravity of these concerns and committed to undertaking a thorough review of the situation in consultation with officials from the Department of Integration.

Deputies McGrath and Murphy maintain that the Department of Integration’s position in pursuing this contract is untenable and hope that the Minister’s forthcoming review will reflect the same.
