Turbidity is the measure of the cloudiness or haziness of a fluid, typically water, caused by suspended particles that scatter light

Uisce Éireann’s Pierce Faherty said: "Flash rainfall over the weekend led to high turbidity levels which interrupted production of the water at the treatment plant.
"Work over the weekend ensured the plant was operating yesterday evening but further turbidity has impacted on production today, and all customers on the scheme have now been impacted as reservoirs have not had time to refill.
"We are working to restore normal supply as soon as possible and wish to apologise to everyone impacted by this outage."
