In a statement, SEMRA said: "Due to the potential seriousness of the injury a slow careful extraction was required.
"The casualty was packaged onto a vacuum mattress for stability and then onto the Defence Forces stretcher. Meanwhile other team members were clearing a path through the undergrowth.
"Once they reached the track, the casualty was transferred to the SEMRA stretcher for a short distance and then into the team Land Rover for transport up to the waiting ambulance.

"Stand down issued at 01:08am everyone safely off the hill and heading home.
"However, the gear that had been cleaned, dried and repacked from Sunday night's rescue, needs cleaning, drying and repacking again so that the vehicles are rescue ready at all times.
"The stand down time doesn’t reflect how long it takes for people to get home or the tidying up that has to be done after. We wish the casualty a speedy recovery."
