It was announced at the recent Thurles Muncipal District meeting that Tipperary County Council has been awarded €15,000 from the Department of Health in an effort to help tackle period poverty.

Tipperary County Council will partner with the Tipperary County Library Network and the three Local Authority managed pools to provide funding to purchase period poverty products for their facilities.

Eight of the Family and community resource centres, four of the local youth services and a number of local development companies will also receive funding from Tipperary County Council.

The council has advised that expression of interest forms for this funding will be sent out to local after school groups, creative art groups and various other local groups and community organisations that may want to avail of this funding.
