Tipperary boy feeling proud after national success in Athlone

The latest from Dundrum Athletics Club.

Tipperary's Shane Buckley represented his club Dundrum AC in the boys under 13 600m contest at the Irish Life Health National Juvenile Indoor Championships in Athlone recently. He won the heat in 1:43.19 and went on to win silver in the final in a personal best time of 1:40.58. Shane has had great help from his coaches John, Michael and Brid Moore; the Wilsons; mentor Gareth McGlinchey who brings him to the Templemore track; and of course his very proud and supporting parents Declan and Triona.

Ennis 10k
Dermot Hayes placed 3rd overall in a personal best time of 34:25 at the Ennis 10k.

Mallow 10 Mile
Christina Fryday placed 602nd in a field of over 1,200 at the Mallow 10 Mile. She was 111th Lady over 40 in a personal best time of 1:22:29.

6k Series
Five Dundrum AC athletes took part at the first race of the Morrison BMW 6k Series. Club results included was 39th Laura McCarthy Armstrong (26:31), 45th Noel Casey (27:22), 114th Dymphna Ryan (36:05), 115th Martina Butler (36:10) and 122nd Naoimh Dooley (36:40).

County Novice
Hosted by Coolquill AC, the County Novice B Road Championships took place in Ballingarry recently. The ladies raced over 3k and the men raced over 6k. Ladies results included 6th was Laura McCarthy Armstrong (12:48), 7th Martha Quirke (12:56) and 11th Rebecca Lenehan (13:24). The Ladies won silver in the team event.
Men's results included 6th Eamonn Morrissey (22:14), 10th Stephen Ryan (22:41), 21st John Shanahan Jnr (24:08), 24th John McCormack (24:16) and 33rd Michael Browne (26:52).
