The elected representatives were also blown away by an outline of the expenditure by the authority and other State bodies in the district and the investment that was in the pipeline.

The meeting was told that €88million was being invested in Carrick by the local authority and State bodies.
Some of the money had already been invested and other projects were in the pipeline.
Maria Cox, Meetings Administrator, said €18m would be spent on the different phases of the regeneration project for the town.
The Digital Hub, she said, would be finished before the end of the year.
That €18m made up some of the €33m that would be spent by the local authority on various projects.

BLUEWAY
The huge capital investment involved projects such as the Blueway, new playground equipment, Active Travel, CCTV and the Town Clock project.

She said another €55m would be spent by the State bodies like the ETB, Department of Education, National Broadband Ireland, the HSE on the primary health care centre with new projects like the Gaelscoil being widely welcomed and there would also be significant investment on the N24.
Also on the day the members were informed about €300,000 funding for an accessibility project at the Carrig Hotel and were told that more details about that funding would be provided at a later date.

LITTLETON BOG
On top of this, ambitious plans were also outlined by Mairead Winters (Tipperary Tourism) of a visitor and education activity centre in Littleton. Members were informed about a feasibility study on the Littleton Bog Experience and the ambitious plans had projected delivery costs of €14million.

Brian Beck Manager, paid tribute to the members and said progress was being made because of the decisions they had made.
Cllr Kieran Bourke paid tribute to Brian Beck for the leadership and the drive he had introduced.
“The town clock has not chimed for many years. It is fantastic to see work is progressing on that in July and September and thanks to Marie Cox for all her work on advancing so many of the projects,” he said.

The newly elected Cathairleach Cllr Davy Dunne said it was phenomenal to see so much money being invested in the district.
He said there was a lot of work being done in the town and said he was driven demented by the negativity towards the town that he sees on social media.
