A murder investigation is taking place following the death of Ian Walsh
The cremation service for Ian Walsh, who was murdered in Carrick-on-Suir, was held in Cork this afternoon.
The 49-year-old Irish Rail enthusiast who was found lying in a pool of blood in his home in the Ravenswood estate off the Cregg Road on the bank holiday Monday.

At the ceremony family and friends listened to music that included Lisdoonvarna by Christy Moore and the N17 by the Saw Doctors before some reflective music completed the ceremony.
The deceased, who was originally from Waterford city, worked in the public transport sector and was known far and wide as a person of great knowledge on the rail infrastructure of the country.
The reposal of his remains took place at Tom Hennessy's Funeral Home in Waterford on Monday and the cremation service took place on Tuesday afternoon in the Island Crematorium, Ringaskiddy, Cork.
The murder victim is predeceased by his father Philip and grandparents.
His RIP death notice stated that he would be forever missed by his heartbroken mother Breda Forristal, his brother Paul and Paul’s partner Rachel.
The notice said he would be sadly missed by his uncle Mick Forristal and family, godmother Marian Butler, his work colleagues at Irish Rail and his many friends at Bus Eireann.
He would be fondly remembered by Mary McCahill, wife of the late Philip Walsh and Aishling Fogarty, extended family and his large circle of friends.
Gardaí carrying out a murder investigation are appealing for anyone with information related to his death to come forward, including any road users who were in the area of Cregg Road, Carrick-on-Suir, between 8pm on Friday, August 1 and 3:30am on Monday, August 4.
Additionally, anyone who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and was traveling in the area at the time is asked to make it available to gardaí.
