Willie Fahey, Eddie Morrissey, Tom Horan, Margaret Molan Ryan, TJ Carey, DJ Horan and Cal Flavin taking part in the Four County Challenge.
The Cashel Lions Club completed the arduous Four County Challenge on Saturday, October 5 which saw the group hike through parts of Waterford, Tipperary, Cork and Limerick.
The four lions, Willie Fahey, Cal Flavin, DJ Horan and Eddie Morrissey, alongside TJ Carey from the Mid Tipp Hillwalking Club, made their way to the starting point of the trail above Lough Bay at 7:00am on Saturday morning. They then journeyed to the slopes of Knocknalougha in Waterford, and from there onto Knocknaclugga in Tipperary.
The group managed to navigate their way through dense fog and difficult underfoot conditions along the Blackwater Way until they arrived at the Crow Hill carpark where they were joined by Kate Fahey.
The group were then joined by the Cashel Lions Club President Tom Horan and Margaret Molan Ryan once they reached Knokaneagh, the final peak in the Knockmealdowns.

The hikers were met with a heavy downpour of rain once they arrived at Skeheenarinky, making the final 7 to 8 kilometres very challenging for the group.
In spite of the deteriorating weather, Monica Slattery, Mary Gleeson and Melissa Flavin joined the group at Skeheenarinky for the final leg of the 34.8 kilometre challenge.
By the time the hikers reached the end of the challenge in Kings Yard, the group consisted of eight people. They managed to complete the Four County Challenge in just under eight hours.
The challenge was this year's main fundraiser for the Cashel Lions Club. All funds raised by the Four County Challenge will be used locally to fund a number of club projects including the Senior Citizens’ Party, Christmas Food Vouchers, Senior Citizens’ Holiday and the purchase of a minibus for the Cashel Day Care Centre.
The club has expressed their appreciation for the generous financial support from the local community and businesses who sponsored the members of the club.
For anyone who would like to contribute to the fundraiser, they still can by contacting the club.
