Plastic free July in Tipperary!

Tips to reduce your use of plastics

Plastic free July in Tipperary!

Plastic straws - try to use an alternative!

Tidy Towns in association with Zero Waste Cashel are urging residents and visitors to embrace Plastic Free July and help turn Cashel into a Plastic Free Town.

July sees millions of people worldwide pledge to reduce their use of plastic. Single use disposable plastic is a major source of litter and pollution and by taking some simple steps people can help address litter and pollution.

Such simple steps, which can also save you money include:
Bring a reusable water bottle with you wherever you go. Check refill.ie for free water refill stations nationwide.
Bring a reusable coffee cup for takeaway teas and coffees.
Say no to plastic straws. If you must use a straw, look for paper straws or reusable metal ones.
Carry reusable shopping bags with you, including smaller ones for loose fruit and veg.
Avoid buying beauty products with micro beads.
Buy reusable plates for outdoor use for Summer barbecues and parties.
Use glass jars, lunchboxes or reusable beeswax cloths instead of clingfilm to store leftover food.
