Where are the stars of Home Alone now? From sad deaths to assault charges
Home Alone, the go-to Christmas movie for kids and adults alike.
Whether it's for nostalgia or you're watching for the first time, there's no doubt this classic caper captures the Christmas spirit that keeps us going back every year.
The movie starred some of the biggest names in Hollywood and catapulted a young Macaulay Culkin to stardom, along with his little brother Kieran.
Released in 1990, the movie was directed by Chris Colombus, who also directed classics like Mrs Doubfire and Gremlins, and featured an unforgettable score by John Williams.
If you didn't know, the story follows 8-year-old Kevin, who gets mistakenly left at home to fend off two burglars who call themselves the Wet Bandits, after his family rush to board a plane to Paris for the Christmas holidays....cue hilarious slapstick comedy, memorable quotes, and a heart-warming message of just how important family is.
But where are the stars now?
Kevin McCallister/Macaulay Culkin
Macaulay starred in My Girl and Wish Kid before reprising his role as Kevin McCallister for Home Alone: Lost in New York in 1992. After that he starred in a string of films including Richie Rich.
In 2013 he started a band The Pizza Underground that mainly parodied songs from the Velvet Underground.He has since launched comedy brand Bunny Ears in 2017, which has a website, video content and podcast.
Culkin is married to Brenda Song of High School Musical fame and the pair have two kids together.
Last year, Macauley was honoured with a star on Hollywood's famed Walk of Fame, where he reunited with on screen mother Catherine O'Hara.
Catherine O'Hara/Kate McCallister
O'Hara was already a household name before Home Alone came along.
She starred in Martin Scorsese's dark comedy After Hours in 1985 and alongside Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder in cult classic Beetlejuice in 1988.
Catherine went on to voice Sally in The Nightmare Before Christmas but is probably more famously known for her portrayal of Moira Rose in fan favourite Schitt's Creek, which deservedly won her an Emmy in 2020.
She reprised her role as Delia Deetz in the 2024 reboot of Beetlejuice.
Peter McCallister/John Heard
Following on from his role as Kevin's Dad, Heard went on to star in some of Hollywood's biggest movies such as The Guardian, The Pelican Brief not to mention roles in popular TV shows like The Sopranos, NCIS and The Client.
John died of a heart attack in 2017 when he was 71.
Harry Lime/Joe Pesci
The most well-known actor in the movie, Oscar winner Joe Pesci has a long and impressive film career that includes Goodfellas, A Bronx Tale and My Cousin Vinny, and The Irishman alongside fellow actor and friend Robert De Niro. He starred in Day Of The Fight in 2023.
Marv Murchins/Daniel Stern
Stern was best known for his role The Wonder Years and City Slickers in between filming Home Alone and Home Alone 2.
Stern is now sculptor who lives in Southern California.
Fuller McCallister/Kieran Culkin
Kieran played Kevin McCallister's cousin Fuller in the movie but is actually the actors brother in life.
Kieran made a name for himself in films such as the Father of the Bride franchise and Scott Pilgrim vs the World.
Most notably he is known for his portrayal of Roman Roy on the wildly successful TV show Succession for which he received an Emmy and Golden Globe nominee.
Butch McCallister/Devin Ratray
Following his portrayal of Kevin's older brother, Ratray appeared in Dennis the Menace, Breaking Point and Nebraska, among others.
The actor made the news in December 2021 after he was arrested for an alleged incident relating to assault and battery of his then girlfriend. Charges included one count of domestic assault and battery by strangulation.
Gus Polinski/John Candy
Comedian John Candy had previously starred in movies such as Planes Trains and Automobiles with Steve Martin and had already worked with the young Macaulay Culkin in the hilarious Uncle Buck.
Candy died in his sleep at the age of 43, on March 4, 1994.
Old Man Marley/Roberts Blossom
Blossom was a poet as well as an actor who had roles in films such as Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Escape from Alcatraz and The Last Temptation of Christ.
He died in 2011 at the age of 87.
