South Tipperary Arts Centre in Nelson Street, Clonmel

This was stated by the Mayor, Pat English, at a meeting of Clonmel Borough District.
Cllr English said that listed building status was warranted in this case “big time”.

District Administrator Carol Crieghton said that the county council’s planning section received a number of requests annually for structures to be added or removed from the record of protected structures.
Given the volume and frequency of these requests, it wasn’t possible to respond on an individual basis to these requests, given the extensive administrative processes and costs associated with undertaking these processes.
In recent years, the planning section has been prioritising reducing the overall number of records of protected structures in the county (reduced from nine records to four records in the last three years) to reduce the administrative burden in maintaining these records.
Nonetheless, the planning section maintains a record of all such requests, and will seek to prioritise any such requests in further reviews of the record of protected structures, she added.
