The ‘Endure for Eileen’ fundraiser held at the Moyle Rovers GAA Centre in Monroe, Clonmel raised the grand total of over €15,000 for the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association (IMNDA).

The event was held to commemorate the first anniversary of the death of Eileen Boland, of Lisnatubrid, Ballypatrick, Clonmel.

Shortly before she passed away, Eileen received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the IMNDA to recognise over 20 years of fundraising for the association, following the death of her husband Charlie from the disease in 2003.

The 82-year-old great-grandmother had raised the staggering amount of almost €1 million for the IMNDA.

‘Endure for Eileen’ was a 24-hour endurance run. Eileen’s daughter, Catherine Delahunty, ran for every hour of the 24 hours and completed a distance of 120 kilometres.

The family were delighted that the fundraiser generated so much money, as Eileen had raised so much funding for the IMNDA throughout her life.

The family thank all who supported and donated to the event in any way.

They are particularly grateful to the Moyle Rovers Ladies and Men’s club; Glenpatrick Spring, Clonmel Garden Centre, Clonmel Fujfilm, Niall O’Sullivan from Premier Timing Systems, Dunnes Stores and J and N coaching.
