The Goatenbridge water treatment plant is resuming normal service

LATEST: Uisce Éireann issue major update regarding Tipperary water supply

Uisce Éireann crews completed repair works to the raw water main that supplies Goatenbridge Water Treatment Plant following a significant burst.

The Water Treatment Plant is operating and supply is returning to impacted customers.

However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers at the end of the network or on higher ground as the system recharges.

Alternative water supplies are currently in place at Marlfield Village, Clerihan Village, Ardfinnan National School, Knocklofty and Newchapel.

Uisce Éireann say they will monitor the requirement of these alternative water supplies and retain those where issues with supply persist.

Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from tankers and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure.

Reservoir levels on the Ardfinnan Supply remain low following the burst.

As a result, overnight restrictions are required to allow reservoirs to recover and to maintain a daytime supply.

Starting tonight, Wednesday, September 10, overnight restrictions will be in place from 10pm until 7am each night until Tuesday, September 16, at 7am for all customers in Newcastle, Frehans, Ballyveera, Poulatar, Ballybacon, Monroe East, Shanakill, Neddans, Roosca Miles, Ballybrado, Loughlohery, Derrygrath, Rathkeevin, Loughtally, Nicholastown, Newchapel, Knocklofty, Marlfield, Clerihan, Red City and surrounding areas in Co. Tipperary.

Uisce Éireann continues to appeal to customers on the Ardfinnan Regional Water Supply to be mindful of their water usage and to make all efforts to conserve water where possible.

Uisce Éireann’s Pierce Faherty said: “We appreciate the patience of the local communities across the Ardfinnan Regional Supply as our teams worked to repair the burst and restore normal service. We also understand the inconvenience nighttime restrictions can cause to communities; however, they are essential to maintain a daytime water supply for homes and businesses while we allow reservoir levels time to recover.”
