Christy Kinahan passed away on Monday
Tributes have poured in following the sad death of former Tipperary Town and County Councillor, Christy Kinahan.
Mr Kinahan , who lived in Tipp town, was an Independent Councillor who was elected several times between 1991 and 2009.
His daughter Jacqui was subsequently co-opted into his seat in 2009 and later went on to join Fianna Fáil, and was a candidate in the recent local elections.
Mr Kinahan late of Cashel Road, Tipperary Town, is predeceased by his wife Fiona.
He will be sadly missed by his loving daughters Siobhan and Jacqui, grandsons, granddaughter, great-grandchildren, brothers, sisters, sons-in-law, brothers-in-law. sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, extended family and friends.
Heartfelt condolences have been left on RIP.ie from those who knew and remembered Christy, with one mourner writing,
"Very sorry to hear of Christy's passing. A wonderful public representative for Tipperary Town and West Tipperary. Never afraid to speak his mind and very principled. Will be always remembered for his efforts for the town and for bringing decentralisation and jobs. Sadly missed but never forgotten. God rest him. Deepest sympathy to his daughters Siobhan and Jacqui, grandsons, granddaughter, great-grandchildren, brothers, sisters, sons-in-law, brothers-in-law. sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, extended family and friends. Thoughts and prayers are with all the family at this time."
Another wrote,
"Sincere condolences to Jacqui and Siobhán and all the extended family on the sad passing of Christy. A great neighbour. A hard worker for the people of Tipperary town for many years. A straight talker. The best. Blessings."
While another wrote,
"Christy's contribution to Tipperary town is unmatched. He fought for the town tirelessly. May he rest in peace. Condolences to all his family."
Funeral Arrangements
Reposing at Whelan’s Funeral Home, Bansha Road, Tipperary on Wednesday evening June 12, from 5:30pm to 7pm. Mass for Christy will take place in St. Michael's Church, Tipperary on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at 2pm and burial afterwards in St. Michael's Cemetery, Tipperary Town.
