RUGBY: Full house expected as the top Tipperary teams are set to clash under Friday night lights

Tipperary rugby rivals Nenagh Ormond and Cashel RFC

Cashel RFC and Nenagh Ormond ready to take centre stage

When Cashel and  Nenagh Ormond meet there is always an edge and plenty at stake which is how it is once more tonight in this eagerly anticipated AIL game as both teams look to secure places in the playoff positions.

The season is quickly rolling on and with just three games to go, the intensity levels will be high tonight on the Old Road in Cashel.

As it stands going into tonight’s game, Nenagh Ormond are in second position in the table with 52 points and if they win tonight against the home team they can go top of the table. Currently they are two points behind leaders Queen’s University following their 34-24 home win over Ballymena.

For Cashel, the road has been rocky of late, as they have won just two out of their last seven AIL  games and have found themselves back in 5th place lagging eight points behind Barnhall on the league table.

When these teams meet, the fixture always throws up some drama and being a local derby, nothing will be taken for granted. Cashel won by 16 points when they met earlier in the season, coming up trumps last October at New Ormond Park.

Kick-off tonight in Spafield is at 8pm.
