Draft Village Enhancement Plans for three Tipperary communities expected by end of month

Tipperary County Council aims to finalise proposed infrastructure upgrade plans for Mullinahone, Ballingarry and Killenaule by the end of this month, Carrick-on-Suir Municipal District’s latest monthly meeting was informed.

District Administrator Marie O’Gorman gave this update on the Village Enhancement Plans for the three communities at the meeting and promised to keep councillors updated on the progress of the projects.

The preparation of the draft plans follows three public consultation meetings in Mullinahone, Ballingarry and Killenaule on May 16,17 and 23 respectively where the council sought the input of local people in each community as to what should be included in the plan.

Ms O’Gorman reported that 63 people attended the three consultation meetings that were attended by Samuel McKeever of landscape and urban design consultants Nicholas deJong Associates, the firm devising the Village Enhancement Plans.

Once the three plans are finalised, the council will submit funding applications to the Government to deliver the three projects.
Ballingarry Cllr Imelda Goldsboro paid tribute to council staff for their work in organising and running the “excellent” public consultation meetings.

“There was great (public) support and feedback. It was very positive and hopefully some funding will go out to rural areas in the near future.”

Ms O’Gorman said there was “terrific engagement” with the public consultation process in the three communities with a lot of suggestions put forward.

“It has been very worthwhile. It’s important to acknowledge the support we have from the councillors in their participation and organising of the venues,” she added.
