Sympathies have been expressed to the Moriarty family, who have been bereaved by the death of John Moriarty.
John began his hurling career in the interfirm competitions where he played with Roadmaster, his workplace.

The Fenians formed a guard of honour to accompany John on his last journey from his residence to the Church.
