Individual School Winners of the Cashel Lions Club Peace Poster Competition with Petronelle Clifton Browne (Adjudicator), and Monica Slattery, Cashel Lions Club Peace Poster Organiser.
The winning poster in the Cashel Lions Club Peace Poster Competition 2023 was created and produced by Kate Browne, a sixth class pupil in Dualla National School.
Kate’s poster was selected from over 150 posters entered by pupils in thirteen local primary schools.
The theme of this year’s Peace Poster was ‘Dare to Dream’ and the adjudicator, Petronelle Clifton Browne, was highly impressed and very complimentary of the range of creative and artistic responses from the pupils who participated in this year’s competition.
The winning poster from each of the thirteen primary schools was on display in Halla na Feile on Friday November 10th where a large crowd of sixth class pupils, parents, teachers and members of Cashel Lions Club gathered to see the range of entries and to hear Kate Browne’ poster declared the overall winner.
Cashel Lions Club President, Tom Horan, welcomed everyone and thanked the local schools for their ongoing support for this annual event.
Monica Slattery who was this year’s Cashel Lions Club Peace Poster Organiser also thanked the schools for their co-operation with the organisation of this year’s competition. Monica complimented all the entrants and thanked Petronelle Clifton Browne for the dedication and expertise she displayed in sifting through all 150 entries, selecting thirteen individual school entries and also having the difficult task of deciding on the overall winner.
The highlight of the evening was the commentary provided by Petronnelle Clifton Browne on each of the thirteen school winning posters and also the manner in which she allowed each school winner to explain the concept behind their poster and the thought and creative process involved in designing and producing the peace poster.
Petronelle remarked on the consistently high standard of the entries and complimented Monica Slattery and Cashel Lions Club for organising and hosting the annual Peace Poster Competition.
Kate Browne’s poster now goes forward to the National Final of the Lions Clubs of Ireland International Peace Poster Competition which will be judged in December. Cashel Lions Club thank all the local primary schools for their ongoing support for this competition and wishes Kate Browne every success in the National Final.
