Hundreds of south Tipperary property owners are attending public consultation events this week about the 60km Preferred Transport Solution Corridor for the upgraded N24 Cahir to Waterford route that was unveiled this afternoon (Tuesday, January 23).
People whose properties lie within the proposed route corridor that stretches from the M8 Junction 10 roundabout north of Cahir to the Quarry Roundabout on Waterford’s outskirts were notified directly by the N24 design team before it went on public display.
The preferred route corridor maps and brochure were published online at www.n24waterford2cahir.ie at 2pm today.
Meanwhile, maps and information on the chosen corridor have been on display at the first of four in-person public consultation events in Cahir House Hotel in Cahir between 2pm and 8pm today.
Landowners and any members of the public impacted by the Preferred Transport Solution Corridor are invited to attend the public consultation events where they can meet and speak with members of the N24 Cahir to Waterford road design team.
The Clonmel public consultation event takes place in the Talbot Hotel next to the Poppyfields Shopping Centre this Wednesday, January 24 from 2pm to 8pm.
There will be a public consultation session at Mooncoin Community Hall in Mooncoin, county Kilkenny this Thursday, January 25 from 2pm to 8pm.
And the Carrick-on-Suir public consultation event will be in the Carraig Hotel on Main Street this Friday, January 26 from 2pm to 8pm.
The public display of the N24 Waterford to Cahir Preferred Transport Solution Corridor runs until February 9.
The N24 road design team points out the route corridor is typically 300m wide in rural areas and 150m in urban areas.
The project team stresses the corridor doesn’t represent the actual width of the proposed new road or the potential lands to be acquired.
It indicates the lands within which the proposed road could be developed.
It also stresses that the actual land required for the project including earthworks, junctions, side roads designs and mitigation measures will be determined in the next phase of planning and designing the route.
Hardcopies of the Preferred Transport Solution Corridor brochure are available at all the public consultation events or by contacting the design team at (056) 779 4380 during office hours, Monday to Friday or by emailing: N24waterford2
