With people of all ages, music, chat, cake and laughter it was a fitting tribute to a man who was indeed a pastor to all particularly during the difficult days of the covid pandemic. Fr. Bobby was noted for his welcoming smile, chatter and fun with the younger generation and sincere unhurried conversation with the older generation.
The farewell was organised by Burncourt Community Council having been put in motion by Teresa Mulcahy and Maureen Creed who made a presentation to Fr. Bobby on behalf of the people of Burncourt. A symbolic gift of beeswax candles, a reminder of Burncourt and life and light was given to Fr. Bobby by Michael MacGillacoda.
We wish Fr. Bobby well as he moves over the mountains with a quote from the great John O’Donoghue: “May the shelter and nourishment of all the good you have done, the love you have shown, the suffering you have carried, awaken around you to bless your life a thousand times."
