Active Schools Week took place in St. John the Baptist Girls School from Monday May 27 to Friday May 31. The fun-filled week of activities was organised by the Active Schools Committee in the school.
The week kicked off in style with a circus skills workshop on Monday and Tuesday. All classes took part and learned impressive skills such as juggling, hula hooping, balancing a spinning wheel and much more.
The girls were busy all week as they also took part in Dance workshops, additional P.E. classes and yoga. Active break times were also scheduled for an extra injection of fun and activity during the week.
The highlight of the week was Sports Day which took place on Friday. Every girl in the school took part in a wide range of activities, from tennis to dancing, athletics to obstacle courses.
The traditional sports day games such as the sack race, the egg and spoon races, the three-legged race all proved firm favourites on the day.
Sports Day 2024 was a wonderful success, with one senior infant describing it as ‘the best school day ever!’ Roll on 2025.
