The former residence of Joe Delaney, honorary treasurer of the Football Association of Ireland (FAI), has been sold to a Tipperary-based charity for €493,000.
Moorehaven Centre, which receives part of its funding from the HSE, provides services for adults with intellectual disabilities.

Delaney, who died in June 2023 aged 82, and his wife Joan, who predeceased him, lived at The Beeches, a six-bedroom house on 3 hectares north of Tipperary town.
The property, which features a sauna, paddocks, and a stable building, was marketed last March for €550,000. The listing states the property requires “decorative upgrading.” It has also recently been fitted with solar panels, achieving a BER of C2.
Joe Delaney, who left the FAI in 1996 after a dispute over the purchase of black-market World Cup tickets, appointed his son John Delaney, former FAI chief executive, as executor of his estate.
Delaney’s will divided his possessions equally among his five children. The High Court probate office valued his estate at €801,000, while Joan Delaney’s estate had been processed at €636,000.
The sale of The Beeches closes a chapter on the Delaney family home, transferring it from private hands to Moorehaven Centre, where it will support adults with intellectual disabilities. The transaction underscores the estate’s significant value while marking a practical use for the property in the community.
