An Eastern European man has been arrested and questioned by gardai in connection with two break-ins to St Mary's Catholic Church in Cahir and the theft of diesel from a Cahir service station earlier this month.
The man, who is currently in custody in Limerick Prison in relation to another crime, was arrested last week on foot of a Section 42 Warrant under the Criminal Justice Act.
He was interviewed at Cahir Garda Station in relation to the theft of candle donations money during burglaries of St Mary's Church on April 2 and April 6. He was also questioned in relation to stealing €35 worth of diesel from the Woodview Service Station in Cahir on April 7.
A Cahir Garda Station spokesman said gardai were now preparing a file on the cases for submission to the DPP.
