Packed programme of events planned for Culture Night in Carrick-on-Suir

TuFilm screenings 

The Tudor Artisan Hub will present a short film "Tales from The Towpath and mini film series "If Anyone Ask" in Nano Nagle Chapel on Friday night. 

‘Tales from the Towpath’ is the result of a collaboration of artists, writers, community workers, historians and fisher folk from Clonmel to Kilsheelan and on to Carrick-on-Suir and will be screened in the Chapel at 8pm. 

It will be followed “If Anyone Asks”, a film mini-series produced by the Tudor Artisan Hub in collaboration with writer Margaret O’Brien at 8.30pm. Two parts of the 6-part series will be screened on the event. Booking for this free event is essential. Tel: Tudor Artisan Hub on 051-640921.

 Brewery Lane events

Over at Brewery Lane Theatre, a children's film  ‘The Secret of Kells’ set in Medieval Ireland will be screened at 6pm – 7.45pm. 

This will be followed by a talk by local author and poet Jack Ryan at 8pm. Jack, who left Carrick aged 14 years for England,  will speak about his fascinating and varied life from his first job as a bell-boy in a hotel to his retirement as University Lecturer and his return to Carrick-on-Suir. 

Youth folk group Aibreán will then perform at 9pm. The young band plays pop/folk music with a focus on sweet sounding harmonies. Admission is free for all events phone 086-127 4736 to book.

 Library concert

There will be a evening of music and song at Carrick Library featuring the Belle Voice Choir from Clonmel and other musicians and singers.  The concert runs from 6.30pm – 8pm. This event is free but it is essential to book, as places are limited.  Please call to the library or telephone 051-640591 to secure your seat.

Ormond Castle talk

Ormond Castle will mark Culture night by hosting a talk by Dave Pollock of Archaeografix on the  archaeological investigations carried out at the Castle in late 2017. The talk begins at 7pm. This is also a free event and as numbers are strictly limited booking is essential. Tel 051-640787.
