Tipperary company receives EU funding for environmental project

The Tipperary project is about recycling waste plastic into sustainable wax

Three Irish environmental projects in Tipperary, Sligo and Limerick were awarded over €5 million in the latest round of project funding announced today by the European Commission under the EU's Life Programme for the environment and climate action.

The Tipperary project, PLASTIC2WAXLIFE, is about recycling waste plastic into sustainable wax.

The team will scale up an existing process from the treatment of 4,000 tonnes of waste a year to 12,000 tonnes before its further application on an industrial scale of 40,000 tonnes.

The aim is to show that a plant using the project technology can achieve savings of up to 24,000 tonnes per year of waste plastics from incineration and emissions of 23,000 tonnes of CO2eq/year.

This project is undertaken by Trifol Resources Limited, Lanespark, Littleton, Tipperary.
