Cashel King Cormacs GAA club has cancelled its upcoming club social/dinner dance.

In a statement on Twitter on Thursday, the club said: "We wish, and regret, to inform the Cashel King Cormacs membership that following a meeting of the Club Social Committee, a decision has been made to cancel the upcoming club social/dinner dance.

"This is due to a lack of ticket sales and the overall cost to the club of running the social, with such small numbers.

"All those that bought tickets will be reimbursed. If you paid for a ticket please contact the person you bought from to get your money back.

"We just want it to be known that we've cancelled our arrangements with Kilcoran Hotel, the band Southbound, Michelle Occasions Cahir, DJ Paul and Liam Devitt Bus Hire.

"All of those, generously, will not be charging anything. We are very grateful to them all.

"It's a pity that the Dinner Dance has been cancelled but that's life. The interest just wasn't there. It's no one's fault. Thank you to all the Social Committee, who put in trojan work organising and planning what we hoped would be a great night for the Club.

"Social Committee members Ger Slattery, Mattie Finnerty, Eliz Conneely, Ailbe Bonnar, Aiden O'Dwyer, Aodán Wrenn, Michael Brosnan, PJ Dunne all deserve huge credit.

"They had 14 Committee Meetings over the past three months. Massive work done. But it wasn't to be."
