Clonmel Celtic 1 – 2 SC & K United
SC & K United recorded an important win in this Division 3 clash between two sides chasing promotion, on a wet and windy Sunday morning in Clonmel.
After a great start to the season, Celtic’s form has dipped alarmingly so they would have been well pleased when a Jason Barnes’ header at the far post gave them a single-goal lead at the interval.
However, the visitors came out strongly in the second half and two quickfire goals from Nathan Dolan from the penalty spot and Aaron Costin turned the game on its head.
Celtic pushed hard to find an equaliser late on, but the visitors held on for three important points that saw them leapfrog their hosts in the Division Three table.
Cashel Town 1 – 0 Moyglass United
Cashel’s seconds completed a clean sweep for the club at the weekend, when they had a much needed and deserved win at home to Moyglass United in the only Second Division clash that survived the weekend weather.
The home side started well and took the lead on seven minutes when Moyglass failed to clear a corner, and as the ball bobbled around the box Jamie O’Keeffe was on hand to finish well from just six yards.
Playing with a strong wind in the first half, Moyglass pressed for an equaliser but the Cashel defence stood firm, well marshalled by the evergreen Joe Breen.
The second half was played in worsening weather conditions, making it difficult for both teams to play cohesive football with very little in the way of chances. Cashel had the better of the few chances but they failed to take any of them, making it a nervy ending before they finally claimed all three points.
