Tipperary athletes receive full sporting scholarships in well known boarding school

Cistercian College Roscrea  recognized the achievements of two Tipperary students that are very special to the traditions and uniqueness of the Tipperary institution.

Brian O'Rourke (Roscrea) and Josh Powell (Toomevara) had a busy week as both pupils represented CCR in the Leinster Senior Hurling Final on Tuesday which they won, and the Leinster Senior Rugby Quarter Final which takes place this coming Saturday.

Josh, from Toomevara, has played at outhalf on the SCT and full back with the senior hurlers this year while Brian, from Roscrea, plays on the wing/centre for the SCT and centre back for the senior hurlers.

The Hurling Support group (represented by Tom Gallahue) and Rugby Support group (represented by Mark Sheeran) were keen to show their gratitude to both pupils for the commitment and discipline they have shown to both codes throughout the year.

Both support groups contributed to an academic fund for both pupils, to assist in their preparation for the leaving cert, and senior staff at the school were grateful for the coaches' efforts to facilitate this unique opportunity for these players.
