Busy Tipperary road set to re-open on Friday after prolonged closure

The busy Ballina to Birdhill road (R494) is scheduled to re-open this Friday, May 3rd.

The following update has been released on R494 upgrade and Killaloe Bypass. See below.

  • R494: Section 1 (Roolagh Roundabout) – Lifting of beams at East Abutment of STO1; demobilisation of crane has commenced; Stop & Go in place to remove sections of jib.
  • Section 2 (Roolagh to Equestrian Centre) – New Traffic Management plan in place from May 3.
  • Sections 6/7 – Both sections will open to two-way traffic from Friday, May 3.
  • Killaloe Bypass/Bridge Crossing: Kincora Roundabout: manned plant crossing during work hours for plant entering works area. Traffic management to swap to southbound lane until May 20.
  • Clarisford Road: Temporary diversion to facilitate earthworks will be in place from Wednesday, May 1.
  • Hill Road/Creeveroe Road – no change.
