Tipperary County Council has approved an extension to the planning permission for a 32-unit residential development near Nenagh’s Dublin Road.
The development, proposed by Bin An Fheadain Limited, includes 16 semi-detached, three-bedroom houses over two storeys, along with eight two-storey terraced houses featuring three bedrooms each.
Additionally, the plan includes eight two-bedroom apartments spread across four storeys.
The site between Homesavers and the Abbey Court Hotel will also feature new entrance gates and an access road leading to existing holiday homes.
In a submission to the council, the applicant’s representative outlined the reasons for the delay in completing the project by the original deadline of January 2025.
Challenges cited included Covid-19 restrictions and subsequent difficulties in securing both contractors and construction materials.
Given these setbacks, a one-year extension was requested to allow for the completion of the much-needed housing units amid the ongoing housing crisis.
The council has now granted the extension.
