O'Mara gave a flicker of his potential with a mammoth first-half point after fielding a Shane Dowling puckout and firing over the bar on the run.
However, he struggled to go the other way with Aidan O'Connor causing the Holycross Ballycahill man huge trouble throughout.
This was his first league appearance after illness so that must be accounted for, but Tipp needs him to increase his influence.
