For the second year in a row, the Munster senior hurling championship will open with a blockbuster rematch of the previous season’s All-Ireland final.
This time, FBD Semple Stadium will play host as Tipperary welcome Cork to Thurles in the spring of 2026.

The clash mirrors how the 2025 championship began, when Clare hosted Cork in Ennis just nine months after their showdown in Croke Park. Tipp, now reigning All-Ireland champions, will be looking to lay down a marker early on home turf against the current Munster title holders.
Since 2022, the scheduling format for Munster has been fixed to ensure that no county is required to play three games across three consecutive weekends. The change was introduced to manage player workload and provide adequate recovery time.
This year, it was Tipp and Waterford who had their home-and-away fixtures grouped closely together. Looking ahead to 2026, Clare will be the team with back-to-back home games in Cusack Park, while Limerick will finish the round-robin with two matches at the TUS Gaelic Grounds.
Round two of the championship will see another headline clash, as Cork host Limerick in Páirc Uí Chaoimh in an early repeat of this summer’s Munster final.
Tipperary will follow a similar schedule to Cork’s 2025 campaign, with a three-week break between their second game against Waterford and their penultimate group match against Limerick in Limerick.
With GAA president Jarlath Burns confirming that the All-Ireland finals will not be played in August in 2026, the calendar for next year’s provincial championships is expected to remain largely aligned with this year’s setup.
The 2026 Munster final has also been confirmed to take place on a Sunday.
