JK Brackens’ second Mid Senior Hurling title was marked by the briefest of celebrations – a get-together on Sunday night, but back for training on Tuesday in advance of their county senior hurling tie with Lorrha next Sunday.
The Templemore lads finished strongly against Moycarkey Borris on Sunday in Boherlahan to claim the title, but such is the intensity of the championship programme, especially for clubs competing in both codes, that there is unfortunately little room to duly mark a significant club achievement
Manager Shane Keegan, a man with considerable experience in League of Ireland circles, was full of praise for his charges after their one-point win over Moycarkey-Borris in Boherlahan on Sunday.
In his second year at the helm in Templemore, the Laois man said: “They are a great group of lads. They give it everything.
“They are now showing the steel that some people seemed to think they did not have. They did this against Holycross in the semi-final, and they did it again today.”
He added: “They have always had lots of ability, and now they have this steel in their approach.
“We don’t have much time to celebrate, but we’ll enjoy tonight and then it's back into training on Tuesday to get ready for the county championship.”
Lyndon Fairbrother did not start because of injury but got game time in the second half and is expected to be available to face Lorrha.
Michael Cahill was another non-starter who could also be in line for inclusion. Otherwise, the manager says they have a clean bill of health.
