REVEALED: St Brigid’s Day cross-making workshop to take place in Tipperary Town

St Brigid’s Crosses, traditionally woven from rushes, come in a variety of styles across Ireland. Most feature a striking diamond-shaped center with four arms reaching outward.

Tipperary Town Library invites everyone to a St Brigid’s Day cross-making workshop. Groups can attend on Wednesday at 12:30 pm or 2:00 pm; the weekly Craft Group’s session is on Thursday at 10:00 am. If Friday is inconvenient, join any of these workshops to craft a cross for the year ahead. For details, call 052 616 6126.

The cross marks spring’s arrival and is believed to protect against misfortune. Placing one above the door invites hope and blessing.

The Feast of St Brigid, honoring one of Ireland’s three beloved patron saints, is celebrated on February 1st. This cherished occasion is now marked by a Bank Holiday, which will be observed on Monday, February 2nd this year.
