Woman airlifted to hospital following Roscrea collision

A woman has been airlifted to hospital following a collision on the M7 near Roscrea this afternoon.

The collision occurred between Roscrea and Moneygall on the M7 southbound following an earlier hailshower.

Emergency services attended the scene with fire crews requiring cutting equipment to release a woman and a child from one of the vehicles.

The woman was airlifted to University Hospital Limerick by Shannon-based Irish Coast Guard helicopter Rescue 115. The remaining victims were taken to hospital by ambulance. The road has since reopened.

The M7 is currently closed at J24 Toomevara as emergency services deal with two separate collisions. Further along, there is a collision on the M7 northbound at J25 Nenagh Centre. Hail showers are affecting visibility on this route and motorists are advised to take extreme care.
