RIP: 'An absolute Gentleman' - Tributes paid following the passing of popular Tipperary postman

Tributes paid following the passing of Martin Grace who was native of Youghalarra, Newtown

Tributes have been pouring out online following the passing of Newtown-based postman Martin Grace.

Martin Grace, Youghalarra, Newtown, Nenagh, Co. Tipperary and formerly of Lissenhall, Silvermines, died peacefully, after an illness bravely borne, on 29th October 2025, surrounded by his family.

He will be sadly missed by his loving family, his beloved wife and best friend Margaret (nee O'Flaherty), his darling daughters Aisling (Ryan), Sinéad (Slattery), Ciara (English) and Mairéad, his adored grandchildren Conor, Orlaith, Ailbhe, Grace, Seán, Anna, Ronan and Oisín, sons-in-law Ger, Andrew, Ken and Darragh (McLoughlin), his brothers William, Gerard and Joe, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, neighbours and great friends.

Many have taken to social media and RIP.ie to share their love and respect for Martin and his family:

"Sincere sympathy to Margaret and all Martin's family on your sad loss .Martin was a character the likes of him will never be seen around again RIP a wonderful guy who was loved by everyone."

"Martin was a gentleman and a great character. You always walked away with a smile after meeting him. May he rest in peace."

"One of life's true gentlemen. Condolences to all the Grace family on your loss. He was our postman for many years and what a credit he was to himself and An Post."

"An absolute gentleman,so funny and witty and a great neighbour."

Reposing on Friday October 31st at Keller's Funeral Home Nenagh (E45 XO94), from 4.30pm until 7pm. Funeral arriving on Saturday to The Church of the Holy Spirit Youghalarra, (Newtown, E45 HD98), for Funeral Mass at 12 noon, followed by burial in Youghalarra Cemetery. The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care that Martin received from the staff of University Hospital Limerick and Milford Care Centre, also from his wonderful G.P., neighbour and friend Dr. Muiris O'Keeffe.
