Marie Donovan, Principle of Thomastown NS & Danny Crotty of Bansha CFR
A brand new automated external defibrillator (AED) has been installed at Thomastown National School in Golden.
The defibrillator is the product of an immense fundraising effort from school principle Marie Donovan, as well as parents of the pupils attending the Tipperary primary school.
An AED is a life-saving portable electronic device that automatically diagnoses the life-threatening cardiac events and is able to treat them through defibrillation.

In the case of cardiac arrest, there is a 90% chance of survival if an AED is used within the first minute.
The AED is located on the left-hand wall as you enter the school through the pedestrian gate.
This will be available for use 24/7.
