Jimmy Bruen run ends in play-off defeat

Our Carrick on Suir GC Bruen team took on the challenge of Cahir Park Golf Club in tough and testing conditions on our home course yesterday evening Saturday, 25th May.

Unfortunately the weather had turned for the worst as the players from both teams teed off the first and each and every player battled the elements, wind and rain, as well as their match play opponents over the following 18 holes of the contest.
After going behind early on in 3 matches and facing an uphill battle after 9 Holes, Carrick fought back valiantly and the overall match ended all square after 18 with a play-off required which was played on the first hole.

Unfortunately for our team Cahir GC managed to win the play-off hole and ended what could have been one of the greatest comebacks in recent years of inter team golf here in Garravoone.

Thanks to Cahir Park Golf Club for a great sporting and competitive contest and we wish them the very best now as they proceed into the next round of the competition.

Hard luck to our own team who just came up short on the day but who put in a massive effort this year and we have no doubt will be back again to figure in this competition next year.

Thanks to all the team under the stewardship of Team Captain and Jimmy Flynn and Selector Robert Barry for doing themselves and the Club so proud.

Carrick GC Team and Pairs:
Team Captain Jimmy Flynn,
Team Selector: Robert Barry.
Pairs: Max Walsh & Mark Burns; Ciaran Power & Nigel O'Brien; Michael Curran & Paudie Hunt; Pat Nolan & William O'Brien.

Carrick on Suir GC were delighted to host such a great team of players and supporters from Cahir GC and afterwards in the Clubhouse both teams enjoyed well earned refreshments and food after a seriously testing day of foursomes match play battle.
